The differences between Indicas and Sativas are well-documented. While the two species are part of the same genus, they possess key differences from shape to effect to coloration. We won’t bore you with details, but let’s do a big picture comparison of Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa.

Indicas are a resilient bunch. They thrive in a variety of places, from tropical climates to harsh mountain climates. In fact, kush strains are such troopers they’re named for their ability to survive in the unpredictable Hindu Kush mountain range.

Sativas, on the other hand, are a bit more needy. Less bushy and with thinner leaves than Indicas, Sativa plants don’t have the build to weather harsh changes. They’re often found in temperate, tropical areas and they thrive near the equator.

We all know the talking points. Indica = couch lock and Sativa = energetic. While the two species share a psychoactive compound – THC – they don’t totally share medicinal implications. Indicas, as a result of their heavy-handed relaxing vibe, are well suited to stress, sleep disorders and pain disorders. Sativas, on the other hand, are well suited for depression, chronic fatigue and ADD.
